Right now, there are 114,490 people across the country waiting to receive the donation that could save their life—an organ. Nearly 4,000 of those people are right here in Maryland. The Living Legacy Foundation (The LLF) is an organization working to shrink those numbers by raising another: the number of registered organ donors.
As the organ procurement organization for the majority of Maryland, The LLF facilitates donations and transplantations in area hospitals, provides donor family support, and educates hospitals and the general public about the life-saving power of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
“The need for donors is so great,” says Debbie Williams, COO of The LLF and graduate of the Leadership Baltimore County Class of 2018. “There just aren’t enough organ donors to even put a dent in the waiting list. Being a donor means having the ability to give someone a second chance at living a healthy life.”
If you’re interested in helping The LLF’s mission of saving and enhancing lives in Maryland, you can register to be an organ donor at DonateLifeMaryland.org. You can also help raise money and awareness by joining The LLF at the Donate Life Family Fun Run on September 22, 2018 in Baltimore. To register for the event, visit DonateLifeFunRun.org.
